SOUTH CITY.....

What a bore.....visited it a second time, basically to give it a second chance. The first time I went to the shopping mall was on the 26th of Jan...holiday crowd on a rainy, windy day.......all lapping up borrowed luxury. Did not enjoy it. May be I misjudged, so decided to give South City a second chance. Went primarily to Spencers. Big place, live fish in aquarium, imported chocolates,Triumph lingerieet al. But, somehow, I did like the idea of fresh vegetables, actually fresh, the fruits were fresh too, and not over-priced.Spices, dal etc could be bought loose. The concept of fresh-food shopping did exist.....
Nevertheless, give the daily bustle of Lake Market....the colourful pattern of tomatoes.against capsicum, the rich purple of brinjals and the heap of fresh peas-in-the-pods. All of which can be touched, felt, smelt. I missed the bargaining and haggling in the fish market over the silvery hilsa. Against all this South City was too plastic.....perhaps not South City, but Spencers. Yet, I admit the concept of retailing is good. Mixed up thoughts!!!!!.....
